NEW DEFENCE CAPABILITY PLAN - WILL ADD AT LEAST FIFTY BILLION DOLLARS (AUD) EXTRA TO OUR DFENCE BUDGETS OVER THE NEXT 10 YEARS!
The Defence Capability Plan reveals the Federal Governments intention to spend an extra $50 billion on military equipment projects over the next ten years.
Announced on February 4, 2004, the plan includes:
$1 billion for 12 pilotless surveillance aircraft (probably the US Global Hawk).

$15.5 billion for new combat aircraft to replace the F-18s and F-111s
(For more on the Joint Strike Fighter see http://www.smh.com.au/media/2004/05/20/1084917706414.html)
$4.5 billion to replace the Orion maritime surveillance aircraft
$1 billion for 12 troop transport helicopters
Army's Copter Choice Rejected
$600 million for 59 second hand US Abrams tanks.
The spending spree also includes $6 billion for three air-warfare destroyers for the Navy. These will be used for theatre missile defence. The full cost of Australias commitment to the US Star Wars program is as yet not known but could eventually run into the 10's of billion of dollars.
The reason why such poor defence planning has emerged must surley be laid at the feet of Senator Hill (amongst one of the worst defence ministers we have ever had) whose sole goal in life seems to be to buy lots and lots of second hand american hand me downs and failed weapons systems.
The question that needs to be addressed by John Howard and other liberal and national party MP's is Senator Hill trying to do a Reith and by buying more and more U.S throw aways to be in line for a handsome retirement income or is he just plane stupid or both ?
Either way he is a danger to our national security and needs to be immediately removed if John Howard (god forbid) gets back into office.
