Welcome to the web site of the Harpers and allied families. Four or five cousins who, not only by the dubious right of citizenship in the gene pool, but by an interest in genealogy and a wish to preserve our family legacy, have contributed to this, our ultimate objective: our very own web page. We hope to finally share with the genealogical community (and anyone else interested) our family, our findings, and some of our assumptions, on a family originating with Patrick in 1653, his son George of Gloucester County, Virginia, down through Georgia with William, and continuing with William Turner Harper and Edward Alexander Harper in Perry County, Alabama, spreading out like a blossoming flower to all points on the compus.
My name is Shirley Gail ("deep south" traditions dictate that the first two names be combined in a soft slur, pronounced: "ShirGail") and I will be maintaining this web site. What I have attempted here is the beginning of a detailed genealogy that will be a guidepost for those who follow. I am attempting to take advantage of this "newfangled" technology to hopefully find our "lost cuz", break those brick walls we've run into, and make some connections on our sketchy paths through the woods of Georgia, Alabama, Louisiana, Arkansas, Texas, and points west.
So, join us and ride along as we attempt to create the largest compilation of data on this branch of the Harpers to date. "Ole Patrick" would have been proud!!!!
This page is under construction; keep checking back. In the meantime, you might want to check on our searchable gedcom file at http://worldconnect.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/igm.cgi?db=sovaclan If I can be of assistance to anyone requesting further information, please feel free to contact me via e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!!
