World War Two began with the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. Marines are well known for their performance in the Pacific from 1941 thru 1945, from Guadalcanal on to Okinawa. Older Americans are well aware of these facts. Not so well known, however, is that Marines were also used in various other actions, such as the defense of Iceland; and, also Marines were involved in the planning and training for many of the ETO operations. Marines, even prior to Guadalcanal (August 7, 1942) fought, died, and became POWs at places like Wake Island, China and the Phillipines, etc. Even lesser known is the fact that a number of Marines were assigned duty with the OSS (Office of Strategic Services, the predecessor to the CIA)in the Atlantic, Europe, and Africa. And after the Atomic Bomb and the surrender, Marines were again sent to China, and to occupation duty in Japan. This website is dedicated to these brother Marines, and, perhaps, to remind ourselves and others of their accomplishments, and the price they paid for all of us.
